The Reece Museum currently houses over 22,000 artifacts that tell the story of Appalachia at a regional, local, and global level. The artifacts in the Reece Permanent Collection represent a broad and eclectic range of both fine art and historically significant items, which the museum continues to collect. Many artifacts from the collection is digitized.

In combination with the Chester Inn State Historic Site and the Oak Hill School Heritage Education Program, Heritage Alliance resources, programs, and services provide the state’s most in-depth glimpse into Jonesborough, Tennessee’s first town.

The Museum of Appalachia is a living history museum — a pioneer mountain farm-village that lends voice to the people of Southern Appalachia through the artifacts and stories they left behind. Founded in 1969 by John Rice Irwin, the Museum is now a non-profit organization, and a Smithsonian Affiliate museum.

The Appalachian Women’s Museum is an organization governed by an all-volunteer board, that has worked to open the doors of the Monteith Farmstead in Dillsboro, North Carolina to house and retell these stories through a living museum.

Four levels of floor space with exhibits on the miners' homes, hospital, commissary, engineering, coal sampling, a mock mine tour and the Loretta Lynn "Coal Miner's Daughter" exhibit. Takes the visitor back in time to feel what it was like to live in a coal camp.
