Social Work: How to Find Federal Legislation

Finding a Bill

Start at congress.gov

Make sure the tab to the left says "Current Legislation." You may search for any topic. Examples of search terms may be health care; reproductive health; patient safety; children's health; public health, etc. If you need assistance finding a bill regarding a specific topic, please talk with a Research Coach.

Once you have searched, you will see a list of bills related to your topic. Make sure that you choose a bill, NOT a resolution.


 

Now that you have found a bill, click on the TEXT tab to read the bill.
