mMLA: Mobile Learning Academy

Mobile Learning Academy

The Beginning

The Mobile Learning Academy

The idea of the Mobile Learning Academy grew from the voluntary mobilization initiative that began in 2011 with the “Initial Mobilization Plan and Operational Framework.”   The Faculty Development Committee suggested creating a workshop exclusively for mobile technology to assist faculty in bringing more engagement tools into the classroom.  Using the Summer Institute’s framework and processes as a model, the Mobile Learning Academy was created by the Coordinator of Faculty Development and the Instructional Design Team. Faculty attend a one day academy immersed in active learning of mobile classroom technology. All faculty members walk away with at least one classroom-ready application for their use. The Academy is funded and supported by the office of Distance Education.

"I enjoyed the mobile teaching workshop last week. I hope to put several of the apps and ideas to work in the classroom this fall. Enjoy the rest of your summer!"
